Probably one of the spells most well known around the wizarding world Expelliarmus is probably one of the most useful spells while dueling. Expelliarmus is a disarming spell, and is used to knock the opponent's wand from their hand. It is commonly used in the dueling club of Hogwarts and in many of the Harry Potter movies. Although called the 'Disarming Charm', it is only used to take wands from your opponent, whereas other spells can be used for summoning of pushing away any object. When powerful enough, it also may slightly knock back your opponent, and if the cast hits, or gets too close to another spell, charm, or curse, it will deflect that cast back towards the caster.
Movies and Books Edit
Chamber of Secrets EditExpelliarmus first appears in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by Snape towards Gilderoy Lockhart, before Harry and Draco Malfoy get into a 'non disarming battle'. Snape demonstrates the disarming spell on the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher to show how to use Expelliarmus and what it does. The cast is not most powerful, although Snape is successful in disarming Professor Lockhart and defeating him in their small duel.

Learning Level-3/8. Expelliarmus is quite an easy spell to learn. The disarming spell can be used and learnt at the Hogwarts dueling club, and more commonly, in the Defense Against The Dark Arts class taught by many Professors in Hogwarts history.
